Stage 1: User Research

To begin the project, I conducted user research to understand how travelers and potential customers interact with hotel and resort websites. I analyzed the existing Serendib Hotel website to identify pain points in navigation and design that may hinder user engagement. Surveys and interviews with past guests provided insights into what improvements were necessary to better meet the expectations of both international tourists and local visitors. The research also focused on identifying how new visual elements, such as theme colors and images, could enhance the user experience while reflecting the resort’s brand identity.

Stage 2: Ideation & Conceptualization

Based on the research, I began brainstorming and ideating key design improvements for the Serendib Hotel website. The goal was to modernize the website with a fresh, inviting color palette, clean fonts, and high-quality images that represent the resort's luxury status. I conceptualized a more intuitive layout to improve the user journey, making it easier for visitors to navigate and book their stay. Special attention was paid to ensuring that the redesign captured the essence of the Malawian location while aligning with global luxury standards in hospitality.

Stage 3: Design Execution

  • Wireframing: Created detailed wireframes to visualize the redesigned structure and user flow, ensuring an intuitive navigation experience.

  • Prototyping: Developed interactive prototypes to demonstrate how the new design and updated visual elements would function, allowing for feedback from stakeholders.

  • UI Design: Designed a vibrant, welcoming interface with clear fonts and high-quality imagery that enhanced the overall visual appeal, while maintaining a user-friendly experience.

Stage 4: User Testing & Iterations

User testing sessions were conducted to evaluate the usability and appeal of the redesigned site. The feedback received helped identify areas that required further refinements, such as the clarity of navigation paths and the impact of the new theme colors. Iterative changes were made based on user feedback, ensuring that the final design was both visually appealing and easy to navigate for potential guests.

Stage 5: Final Presentation and Documentation

In the final phase, I presented the redesign to the stakeholders at Serendib Hotel and Resorts, highlighting how the new design improved both visual aesthetics and user engagement. The high-quality images, modern fonts, and refreshed theme colors gave the website a more luxurious and cohesive look. Comprehensive documentation was created to detail the design process, ensuring smooth future updates and maintaining design consistency.
