Stage 1: User Research

In the initial phase, I conducted thorough research to understand the challenges faced by pet owners in managing their pets’ health. Interviews and surveys helped gather valuable insights into the daily routines and specific needs of pet owners. Additionally, I explored existing pet care apps and IoT solutions in the market to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement. This research laid the foundation for the key features of the app, including health monitoring, feeding automation via IoT, and seamless veterinary consultations.

Stage 2: Ideation & Conceptualization

Based on the research findings, I conceptualized the core functionalities of Pet2Pet. I developed user personas to represent different types of pet owners and mapped out their journey within the app. Ideation sessions led to innovative features such as real-time health tracking, automated feeding with IoT devices, an online pet food mart, and direct access to veterinarians. This stage involved translating user needs into practical and engaging solutions that would simplify pet care.

Stage 3: Design Execution

  • Wireframing: Created low-fidelity wireframes to map out the structure and flow of the application.

  • Prototyping: Developed interactive prototypes using Figma, enabling quick iterations based on feedback.

  • UI Design: Focused on creating a pet-friendly, intuitive interface with calming colors and playful elements.

Stage 5: Final Presentation and Documentation

In the final stage, I presented the completed design to stakeholders, showcasing how the app addressed the identified user pain points and provided a seamless experience. I also compiled comprehensive documentation detailing the design process, decisions made, and the overall journey from concept to execution. This documentation served as a valuable resource for future developments and iterations of the app.

Reflections
Working on Pet2Pet deepened my understanding of how IoT devices can enhance user experiences, especially when it comes to caring for pets. It also provided me with the opportunity to work closely with pet owners to design an empathetic, user-centered solution.
