Chuti Teacher – AI-Based Education Mobile Application

An innovative AI-powered app providing personalized learning and accessibility for students with diverse needs.

Role

UI/UX Designer

Industry

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Duration

1 months

Stage 1: User Research

In the initial research phase, I explored the needs of both general students and those with disabilities to create an inclusive learning experience. Interviews with teachers, parents, and students helped identify pain points in traditional education systems, particularly in terms of accessibility and learning pace. The research also focused on how AI technologies could be leveraged to provide customized learning experiences. I examined the current gaps in the market, particularly for students who rely on sign language, and how AI-based animations could address these needs.

Stage 2: Ideation & Conceptualization

From the insights gathered during research, I ideated the core functionalities of the Chuti Teacher app. The main goal was to create an AI-based learning platform that is adaptable to each student’s pace and provides equal opportunities for students with disabilities. The concept included animated AI teachers who could teach in sign language and answer student queries individually, without interrupting other learners. This customization ensured that students with unique needs could learn at their own speed, using a fully accessible and engaging platform.

Stage 3: Design Execution

  • Wireframing: Developed low-fidelity wireframes to outline the app's structure and user flow, focusing on easy navigation and accessibility.

  • Prototyping: Created interactive prototypes to simulate the AI teacher and sign language features, testing usability and responsiveness.

  • UI Design: Designed a vibrant, user-friendly interface that catered to students of all ages, with special attention to accessibility, including color contrast and iconography.

Stage 4: User Testing & Iterations

After building the prototype, I conducted usability tests with both general students and students with disabilities to assess the app’s functionality and ease of use. These tests provided valuable feedback, particularly on the AI-based responses and sign language animations. Based on this feedback, I made several iterations to improve the experience, ensuring that the AI teacher was easy to understand and engage with, regardless of the student's learning style or needs.

Stage 5: Final Presentation and Documentation

In the final phase, I presented the finished design to stakeholders, demonstrating how the app provided a unique, personalized learning experience while supporting students with disabilities. I also prepared detailed documentation that captured the design process, including key decisions and how we addressed accessibility concerns. This documentation helped ensure that future updates to the app could maintain and enhance its inclusive focus.

Reflections
Designing Chuti Teacher was a rewarding experience, as it allowed me to work on creating accessible and inclusive learning solutions using AI. It was especially fulfilling to see how technology can be harnessed to break down barriers for students with disabilities, providing them with equal opportunities for learning.
